David Mansouri
David Mansouri is working to make students the center of all decisions about public education in Tennessee. As the leader of the State Collaborative on Reforming Education (SCORE), he helps set the direction for statewide advocacy, thought leadership, and coalition building to improve the state’s public school systems.
When SCORE began its work, Tennessee schools were in the bottom tier of student achievement as measured by the Nation’s Report Card. The state lacked an independent champion solely focused on advancing student success; one that could share and scale promising practices and support academic equity.
A decade later, the state is now among the fastest improving in the country. That’s in no small part due to SCORE’s work to influence state policy, monitor progress, identify challenges and elevate promising practices. Across its work, SCORE maintains a focus on preparing excellent educators, ensuring all schools and systems meet high expectations, and aligning K-12 and college with the changing demands of career and life.
